Draftsperson Job Description

Primary Purpose

As part of the technical team, the Draftsperson relies on field data and existing survey information to formulate preliminary and detailed designs for FSD projects.

Key Accountabilities

• Evaluate information from field data and existing survey information to formulate preliminary and detailed designs and drawings for various engineering and planning projects.
• Draw diagrams, profiles, plans using cross-sections and surveys to represent elevations, topographical contours and structures
• Produce detailed and concise drawings and plans with technical accuracy under the direction of the Project Manager

Employees with staff supervision and/or management responsibilities will ensure that assigned staff abide by the above, and actively identify, assess and correct health and safety hazards, as required.

Required Qualifications

• Education
  Degree or diploma in Geomatics or equivalent
• Experience
  Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroSurvey and/or Coordinate Geometry Software
• Ability to work as a team player
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to mentor and direct junior staff on the various projects
• Ability to gather information required to be provided to the field staff on any given project

Nature and Scope

• Contacts: Internal contacts are Field staff, CAD Technicians, Development Lead, and OLS’s. Limited external contacts as most inquiries go through Development Lead or OLS’s
• Level of Responsibility: The OLS’s and CAD technicians rely on this position for accurate drawings and information. Gathers information to provide to field staff for various projects
